About Katharine Nicholls

 I'm a Senior Lecturer on BA(Hons) Animation at Falmouth University who also loves to paint, traditionally, digitally or with whatever comes to hand in the studio.
Often inspired by stories about people, I currently have an interest in portraying surveillance as a subtle sense of intrusion that exists even in the remotest of of places.
My stylised landscape paintings of Cornwall sometimes reflect my original training as a textile designer as I'm always looking for patterns to describe.
Working as an animation background painter across different TV, film and commercial productions meant using  a variety of painting styles and techniques. This fuelled my passion for storytelling, influencing my work as both a teacher and artist.
